Ernest Lambers

Ernest is a co-founder of EMAlternatives， LLC， and serves as Managing Partner & Chief Investment Officer. He has over a decade of of private equity investment experience， almost exclusively in the developing world.

From 2000 - 2007， Ernest served as Head of Emerging Markets investing for AlpInvest Partners NV， Amsterdam， which manages over €30 billion on behalf of two Dutch pension plans. Ernest’s responsibilities for AlpInvest included allocation planning， developing visibility in the market so as to enable access to the top performing managers， and origination and execution of five to ten investments per year.

From 1996 to 2000， Ernest was Executive Director of NIB Capital Bank Pte Ltd， Singapore， where he was responsible for the corporate clients of NIB Bank in Asia. His responsibilities included originating and monitoring loans， and managing work-outs of a loan portfolio in Indonesia， Thailand， Philippines， China， Hong Kong and Singapore. During his time in Singapore， Ernest also designed NIB’s private equity program in Asia， and began executing on that plan.From 1990 to 1996， Ernest was Senior Account Manager at NIB Capital Bank NV， The Hague， where he was responsible for lending activities in several sectors， including automotive and heavy industry. Previously， Ernest held a series of positions with ABN AMRO Bank NV （then AMRO Bank）.

IIn 1986， he received a MA in Economics from Erasmus University in Rotterdam， The Netherlands， and previously he attended Aloysius College in The Hague， The Netherlands. Ernest also has completed several courses at the Amsterdam Institute of Finance， the European Venture Capital Association， and Centre for Asia Private Equity Research. Ernest is the author of numerous articles and is a frequent speaker on private equity investment in emerging markets.
