John H. Murray is Chairman and co-founder of Ecofin. At Ecofin, he has overall responsibility for execution as well as for legal matters, compliance and corporate governance.
Prior to co-founding Ecofin in 1992, he was head of the corporate finance department of Swiss Bank Corporation Investment Banking Limited in London and a member of the Management Committee of SBC’s London-based investment banking business. Before joining SBC in 1987, he was an investment banker with Morgan Stanley Group, Inc. and held corporate finance positions in the firm’s New York, London, Sydney and Melbourne offices from 1975 to 1986. He was graduated from Williams College in the United States with an honours degree in economics and from Harvard Business School with an M.B.A. He is a non-executive director of each of Ecofin’s funds and of BlackRock New Energy Investment Trust plc. He is a U.S. citizen.
