Chris Fiegen is chief investment officer of Equity International. Mr. Fiegen has been associated with the Company since its inception in 1999 and is primarily responsible for the investment activity of the Company. He is a director of various portfolio companies, including Xinyuan Real Estate (NYSE:XIN), Orascom Housing Communities, Shanghai Jingrui Properties Co., Ltd., Renaissance LifeCare PLC and Sanctuary Residences. Mr. Fiegen joined Equity Group Investments, L.L.C. (EGI), the privately held investment company founded and led by Sam Zell, in 1997.
Prior to joining EGI, Mr. Fiegen worked in public policy and administration for Cook County government in Chicago. From 1991 to 1994, he was an assistant to the chief financial officer, responsible for the administration of annual appropriations and the management of municipal debt. From 1994 to 1997, he served as the chief deputy director of the Cook County Department of Corrections, where he was responsible for activities including business and financial administration, organized labor contracts and the planning and construction of new facilities.
Mr. Fiegen graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.B.A. in finance.
